Milan is truly working its magic for Yushan Li and Jun Zhou, the talented Chinese designers who have embraced the vibrant fashion scene of this iconic Italian city.
Over just two years since they immersed themselves in Milan's stylish environment, these designers have significantly developed their brand, Pronounce, honing the dialogue between Eastern and Western fashion that has always been central to their identity.
But here's where it gets interesting... The impact of Milan’s rich sartorial traditions and commercial savvy is increasingly evident in their evolving design language. The Fall 2026 collection, showcased within the artistic confines of Fondazione Sozzani, exemplifies this growth with its desirable tailoring, elegant leather garments, and a sophisticated palette of colors.
However, what stands out is how the duo has skillfully woven their own cultural heritage into their designs. Backstage at the show, they shared that their creative inspiration stemmed from the Yingxian Wooden Pagoda located in Shanxi Province. This architectural marvel, renowned as the tallest wooden pagoda still standing today, boasts an extraordinary beauty and a unique construction method that does not employ nails. The verticality and vibrant colors of the pagoda sparked ideas that translated into the slender, layered silhouettes featured in their coed collection.
Adding to the intrigue, there’s a distinct hint of 1980s flair present in the oversized shoulder designs of the elongated blazers and long coats, often cinched with belts adorned with carabiners. This relaxed yet formal aesthetic is further accentuated by flowing silk pieces and the introduction of denim, which grounds the collection with practical workwear elements.
