Talmi's contributions to nuclear physics are nothing short of groundbreaking. During World War II, Talmi's parents initially kept him from traveling to study in Tel Aviv due to safety concerns. In his later years, Talmi returned to his first love - nature. He took up birdwatching, a hobby he shared with his eldest son during their walks. His passion for both science and nature is a beautiful reminder of the interconnectedness of our world.
Talmi is survived by his two children, Prof. Yoav Talmi, an ear, nose, and throat specialist, and Prof. Tamar Dayan, a zoologist and founding chair of the Steinhardt Museum of Natural History at Tel Aviv University.
