2026 M-Sport WRC Ford Puma Revealed: New Livery, Irish Drivers, and Technical Upgrades! (2026)

M-Sport Unveils the 2026 WRC Ford Puma: A Fresh Look and a New Generation of Drivers!

Get ready, rally fans! M-Sport-Ford has just pulled the wraps off their latest beast: the Ford Puma Rally1 car that will be tearing up the tracks in the 2026 World Rally Championship.

This isn't just a refresh; it's a statement. The team is shaking things up with a brand-new livery, bidding farewell to the purple and Red Bull branding of 2025 and embracing a striking white, green, and blue color scheme.

But here's where it gets interesting: this change isn't just about aesthetics. It's partly driven by M-Sport's expanded partnership with Motorsport Ireland and their rally academy. This collaboration has led to an all-Irish driver lineup for 2026, featuring Josh McErlean and Jon Armstrong.

McErlean, at 26 years old, is returning for his second season with M-Sport after an impressive rookie year, stepping up from WRC2. Joining him is 31-year-old Northern Irishman Armstrong, who earned his spot after finishing as the runner-up in the European Rally Championship in 2025, with victories in Wales and Croatia.

And this is the part most people miss: M-Sport has been hard at work during the off-season, focusing on refining the Puma's geometry and weight balance.

"We have a small plan, but it is likely we won’t use all of the homologation jokers, but there are a couple of things we are looking to do around geometry to let us do a couple of things with the weight, and so forth, to get that balance back," explains Tim Jackson, M-Sport’s lead engineer for the Puma Rally1.

He also highlighted the importance of brake cooling, which, while not a direct performance enhancer, allows for optimized brake packages, ensuring consistent performance throughout the stages. This is crucial, as it allows drivers to maintain peak performance, rather than having their performance affected by brake fade.

The team wrapped up its pre-season testing in the south of France last week, gearing up for the Monte Carlo curtain-raiser next week.

"Our test has gone really well. Obviously our driver line-up is quite a young one. Jon is new to the team so there is a lot of focus on getting him settled into the team and trying to build up mileage and experience to have confidence to take forward into the rally," Jackson noted during the Monte Carlo test.

"We are realistic with our expectations but Monte Carlo is a rally where if you can be solidly good throughout the course of the weekend you can be up there at the end of the rally. Let the other people push hard and make mistakes, and us develop as the rally goes on.”

Controversy & Comment Hook:
